(though not written until Tuesday, Dec 1, 2008 — which, as you’ll see, is important*.)
Meters: 5,403
Time 25:00
Pace per 500 meters: 2:18-2:19 (*here’s why important!)
Strokes per minute: 24-25
Total Meters Rowed: 140,869

Could someone tell me, please, why for years I haven’t been doing back-to-back, one-day, next-day work outs? I felt great. I felt great on the machine and I felt great all that day AND the next (*that’s why this after-the-fact blogging is important).

Take my 500-meter pace. Please! That’s right: Sub 2:20. And I did it without even thinking, only realizing I was nailing it once I was well into it. This is important because, once upon a time when I first got on the Concept2, back in 1988, I decided upon a 2:18-2:19 500-meter pace as best for me. I had no idea what I was doing, and that might not have been a bad thing. I just sat down and started rowing, and since I had NO technical expertise, it was all “feel.” And that 2;18-2:19 just felt right. I was 37. To be able still do that at 56, 20 years later, well, yeah… that just feels right too!
